This target tube measures the fecal bacteria Bacteroides dorei in a water sample. This species is present in humans and is therefore a good indicator of human faecal contamination. Relevant, for example, when measuring the effect of sewer overflows on water quality. Our experience is that B.dorei is often found in higher concentrations than E.coli and is therefore a good alternative or supplement to E.coli . The Target Tube can be used in combination with other faecal indicators, such as E.coli (article number U20040) and Enterococcus (article number 20045). Target Tubes are packed per 50 pieces and are ready for use. The shelf life is at least 1 year at room temperature, if stored in the dark.
The importance of this qPCR measurement is that we can measure the quality of swimming water on the day itself instead of 3 days before.
